San Bartolomé Quiliana – More Information

San Bartolomé and San Marcos, while not far from Oaxaca city, are a bit off the beaten path, located as they are at the very southern edge of the Tlacolula valley. Not many tourists venture here, though they are certainly welcome. Today’s outing has two main parts. First of all is the visit to these two small communities and the easy hike along the dirt road that connects them. Secondly, our group will stop in Tlacolula after the hike to view the restoration work done in the wildly baroque side chapel of the village church there, then step across the street to the main market for lunch. All in all, this should be a relaxed and pleasant day.

Time frame: 8:30 depart Llano Park / 9:45 arrive San Bartolome / 11:15 arrive San Marcos / 12:00 leave San Marcos / 12:30 arrive Tule for lunch / 1:45 leave Tule / 2:15 return to Oaxaca.
