Capulálpam – More Information

Today’s outing is a pleasant walk through the forest on an undulating logging road that eventually becomes a single track trail along a stream. The road is wide and well graded, making for easy going through the woods. The main challenge is the altitude (7,000 feet / 2250 meters, more or less) and the length of the hike. Since we are going out-and-back along the same route, people who wish to go more slowly or who tire and want to turn back may easily do so. This valley catches a lot of the moisture that flows into Mexico from the Carribean, so there is luxurious growth of bromeliads, which festoon the trees like Christmas decorations.

Time frame: 8:30 depart Llano Park / 10:00 arrive Guelatao – visit Benito Juarez museum / 11:30 arr trailhead in Calpulalpam / 1:00 reach end point of hike & lunch / 3:00 board van at end of hike  /  5:30 return Lending Library.
